How do I get Avery to sleep in a little more? There is a huge difference in how he handles life depending on whether or not he sleeps past 7 or wakes up before 7. He goes to bed between 7.30/8pm. It had been 8 and we have been moving it up due to being chronically overtired. It has not changed his wake up time.
His wake up time is all over the place. On the days he wakes before 7 we are lucky to get two 1 hour naps and are stuck with a clingy baby all day, he will also take a 20 minute nap within 60 minutes of waking. We have tried leaving him in his crib til 7 but he just screams/cries which is a rather stressful way to start the day. We thought it might be a hunger issue, but giving him a bottle makes him ready to go for the day.On the days he sleeps until at least 7 we get at least 1 if not 2 naps that last longer than 2 hours. He is happy and independent.
I dont know how to train him to sleep later...Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Re: Later Wake Up?
this is us. 6am is "sleeping in" for him. today he was up at 5:20am, bright eyed, bushy tailed. I have an older son, so it's hard to let him just stay in his crib and make a bunch of noise...the last thing I need is TWO kids up at that hour.
I'll be stalking this post for suggestions!

I have no idea if this helps BUT....
My DD goes to bed between 7-730 (usually closer to 7:00 PM).
She went through a long phase after two trips to Florida of waking up between 4-5 AM. It was miserable.
She naps twice a day (always 3 hours after her last wake-up, it's like clockwork) for 1-2 hours a pop.
The past few days, I have gone in during her 5 AM wake-ups and I ultimately decided I would not let her get up before 6:00 AM.
SO... I basically pretended it was a middle of the night wake-up and went in, laid her down, patted her butt and left. It took 2-3 times but then she fell back asleep and slept until 6:45 AM (wahoooooo!)
Now last night she slept 7 PM - 6:15 AM without a peep which was great.
Maybe pretend early wake-ups are really middle of the night wake-ups?? Does that make sense?
