Hey ladies! A few days ago I posted about some moderate hip pain I was having (https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/66525126.aspx). Alot of you suggested I try a chiropractor. I just had a few follow-up questions about chiropractors.
I always associate chiropractic care with obviously spines, but mostly joints, bones, ligiments, etc. But the pain I've been having recently is more of what I would call a muscle pain. (Although throughout my pregnany I would have described it as a true bone and ligiment pain. Recently it feels like a pulled upper butt muscle). Can chiropractic care help with what I describe as more of a muscel pain?
I also know chiropractic care is good to get the baby in the optimal position. I had an ultrasound today - the baby's head is down (yeah), but the baby is "facing" my right side. The spine is along my left side. I know I have a few more weeks and the baby will move alot between now and then, but there is a part of me that is worried that the baby's head will not turn and face my back.
Can chiropractic care and prenatal messages effect each other? I have a bunch of vouchers for massages, and I planned on using them over the last few weeks of pregnany for pregnancy message (I have one tomorrow). But if I go to a chiropractor and get messages, I don't want the messages to "counter-balance" the chiropractic care. If that makes any sence???
Also, when did you start seeing a chiropractor? I want to talk to my MW before seeing a chiropractor. But I don't see my MW again until 6/22 (my EDD is 7/24). Is a month of chiropractic care enough time for me to notice pain releaf? Or for them to get the baby in the optimal position?
Sorry so many questions!
TIA

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid. Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth. If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP. My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!
Re: Chiropractors

My chiro was an angel through my pregnancy. Being out of alignment in your hips and spine (and other joints, my chiro adjusts from my feet all the way up to my neck and did my wrists as well when I had pregnancy issues in my hands) will cause pain in the muscles.
Chiro and massage go together so well. Ideally, you get a massage and then an adjustment. Loosen everything up so you adjust better.
Yes, you'll get results in a month of care. You'll see change in one visit and it just gets better from there. Your chiro will likely want to see you 2-3 times in the first week, so be prepared to go a couple times close together right off the bat.
