Anyone else hungry, need to eat but NOTHING is appealing?

Ok, I'm a reallll food-ie. I am addicted to the food network and I cook and bake up a storm whenever I can, especially when the SK's are over. My DH and I live alone most of the time and eat super super healthy and clean and rarely get takeout or fast food etc. We'll go out for dinner maybe 2-3x a month but it's usually hearty italian food. I love love love to eat, and I crave healthy food always have! (lucky i guess lol thanks mom for raising me on fruits and veggies lol)

I haven't had any nausea per-se, but when I think about eating certain things, I just get this huge lump in my throat and can't even imagine eating it!!!!! We got wendy's hamburgers last night, pizza tonight....I need to use up this chicken I thawed up yesterday but the thought of cooking and eating it gives me a lump in my throat!!!

I am eating things totally out of character and not really because I 'want them' I just know I have to eat and cant imagine eating anything else. I usually drink a ton of water as well and even that isn't sitting well.....

Is this the beginning of what m/s is or is this just more an aversion/craving thing going on???

It's probably a little of both.  I am right there with you.

I had some gorgeous vegetables from my garden yesterday and I sauteed them thinking they would be amazing for dinner....and then I couldn't eat them.  In fact, I couldn't even stand to smell them.  I can hardly get anything down, and I'm having a particularly tough time with fruits and vegetables, which are normally my favorites.  I'm subsisting on saltines and bagels right now.  And even those are starting to taste bad.

I've also, like you said, wanted to or been able to eat random things that I don't normally eat.  Today I ate a big bowl of ice cream, which I never ever eat.  And a couple of weeks ago I kept eating tater tots all the time--again, not something I normally eat.  Unfortunately, when I'm this nauseated, I basically need hangover food.

Haha! Now that I think of it the food I want IS mostly hangover food! LOL

  • Yes! Ugh, its frustrating because I know I need to eat or the nausea will just be worse, but I have a hard time forcing myself to eat and deciding what to eat. Just the thought of having to cook nauseates me. I'm feeling like a bad mom and wife these days (every since I hit 5 weeks) as I have no desire to cook a healthy home cooked meal....and so I haven't.

I flip flop between wanting to eat EVERYTHING and wanting to eat nothing at all. I'm eating as good as I can, but I admit I've had some days where I've not eaten much more than goldfish, water and teddy grahams.

We also meal plan a week in advance, and by the time it's time to eat whatever we've planned out, it doesn't sound good anymore.

Oh, meal planning has gone completely out the window in this house.  I can't tell what I want to eat ten minutes in advance, much less a week in advance.  We'll resume our regular meal planning and cost-effective shopping habits once I'm feeling better but for now, I'm just trying to focus on eating what I can get down when I can.

So I'm not the only one letting the chicken rot in the fridge?

Thank god I am on vacation right now (am a teacher) and have the time to go to the grocery store every day. Man I need to start cooking again....all this fast food sodium and fat is going to kill me lol

  • I am totally in the same boat. I feel like I'm eating because I have to. The only thing that ever sounds good is a nice greasy burger and fries (my hangover cure). At work people are always bringing in tons of goodies, which I normally dive right in to. Now I just eat whatever sounds the least bad at the time. I almost feel like I'm not eating enough and not getting enough variety. I hope this changes!

  • Yes! I really really think that  going to want something bc it's yummy then I can barely touch it! Cheese seems to be working for me. DS loves cheese too... and a pattern emerges!

  • I'm pretty much living on bagels, cereal, cheese and fast food chicken sandwiches. Everything else sounds disgusting.

Wait, never mind cross cheese off the list, no longer sounds good.

  • I want to send this feed to my DH so he can read that this is normal! LOL  We have started weekly/monthly meal planning and not spending money on food out except once or twice a month. Unfortunately I can't imagine eating any of what I bought! :/

I have chicken in the fridge that has got to be going bad, and vegetables that I had every intention of eating a few days ago, now just sitting there!  The only thing I seem to be able to eat is something within a few minutes of deciding on it!  If I give it much thought then it's all over from there, I get more nauseous thinking about it and then I'm left hungry and repulsed by it.  Cheese, all by itself, is repulsive though it's normally one of my FAVORITE FOODS!

Last night I finally ate a large bowl of Kraft mac n cheese and felt for once in the past few days like I ate something! I hate feeling hungry but can 't eat anything at all.  Even drinking something is hard to do, mostly water and orange juice but even those turn me off.  Everything I want seems to require me spending money on!!  Defintely after this feeling is over I plan to get back on the healthy horse and being active... I've been feeling like a fat sloth! Haha
