Biopsy results are in...WTF?? (Long)

Ok, MFI friends, I am wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation and may have any insight/advice....

In my last post I mentioned that sperm was found in the left teste, none were seen in the sample from the right..these are the results from the IVF people/andrology lab. Uro calls today to say he received the report from the pathologist indicating normal sperm production in both testicles. Let's just say, he seemed "stumped." He plans to review the samples with the pathologist tomorrow. I guess he doesn't think it's obstructive because of the normal volume in the ejaculate or something along those lines...why is this normal sperm not coming out then? That is what he needs to review with the pathologist apparently and why the discrepancy between the two samples (2 samples from each side were taken and the same tissue was sent to both the andrology lab and the pathologist.)

Uggh I do like our uro and it's great that he takes time to call but he speaks so fast I feel like my head is spinning. Bottom line is he needs to call us tomorrow. I am wondering if he'll recommend another SA (only one was done which started all this, I know we should've pushed for another). We had our IVF orientation today & I am supposed to start my period today or tomorrow & meet with RE to start first steps for IVF/ICSI...now I'm like WTF? Do I move forward with that or not? If we are going this route, we want to get this ball rolling!  Couldn't reach RE today so guess will have to wait until tomorrow, hopefully uro calls us sooner rather than later. Just thought I would throw this out there in the meantime to my expert panel of ladies!

And as always, best of luck to everyone on here dealing with the all-so nasty IF. :)

Weird. I'm just not knowledgeable enough to really comment but I hope they have some answers for you so you can make some decisions.

I'm definitely not as well informed as most of these ladies, but I would definitely have another SA.  We are awaiting SA #3 and hoping to get some sperm to freeze this time before we start planning for IVF with ICSI.  DH has not had any biopsies or anything.  If he has another 0 count I guess we may move to that?

    Good luck!

Hopefully the first sample was a fluke and the next one comes back much better. Weird that they would do a biopsy after only one SA.

Thanks, everyone. Yeah, I am hoping for another SA. They didn't want to do one because they said the count was so severely low that another wouldn't have made a difference...now I wonder about that! Waiting on uro, waiting on RE, waiting on AF, waiting waiting waiting uggghhhh...I am not a patient person either! :)

Sorry that things are so frustrating!  Yes, I agree with the PP that another SA should be done and I'm surprised that more than one wasn't done before moving forward with a procedure as intrusive as a biopsy.  GL!
