I'm planning to wean LO very soon from BF. We are taking a trip July 7 and I don't plan on pumping in Aug when I return from summer break. He is taking one bottle a day of formula just fine. He is taking 4 oz. I've tried 6 oz of formula since he was taking 5 oz of breastmilk when I was pumping at work; however, he doesn't take the 6 oz of formula. He is just learning to hold the bottle since I've been EBF since summer started and he hasn't had a bottle in weeks!
He is on solids 3 times per day but hasn't cut back on nursing! I've also got 410oz of BM frozen.
Please share your weaning story and any advice!
Re: Moms of those who have weaned
I have 2 feedings still happening, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, but I just kind of stopped the in between. I would feed her first thing in the morning, giver her cereal and fruit, and then give her bottles for the other 3 afternoon feedings. I did solids for dinner after her 6 month appointment, and now nurse her at night. She really transitioned well. She doesn't seem to wait for it or want it or anything like that. I think that weaning is harder on us than on the babies.
I am working on deciding which of the 2 that I do I am going to drop next. I want to get rid of one soon, but I love the first thing in the morning thing. However, LO kind of uses the night one to settle before bed.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.
