Raya or Rhea?

Which do you prefer?  Do you like either one and how would you pronounce them?

Raya - hebrew, meaning: friend
Rhea - greek

Is that the best spelling of Raya?  I've seen Raia but does it yooneek?

    It depends how you are saying it when I see Rhea I pronounce it Ray.

    Oh, never thought of that.  I'd pronounce Rhea "Ree-ah" like rhea perlman.

    Raya is a common name in my family and is pronounced: Ry-uh

    I associate Rhea with Rhea Perlman and pronounce it: Ree-uh

    Rhea is my middle name...and I say Ray.

    The rhea bird is pronounced ree-uh, but my name is a family name and has always been Ray - like Caroline Rhea.

    I like Rhea better.

     I would pronounce Raya like this - Ray-yah.  I pronounce Rhea like this - Ree-yah

    I agree with pp on pronouncing the two names differently, but I say:

    Raya = Ray - Ah

    Rhea = Ree - Ah

    Personally, I like Rhea better.

    The correct Greek pronunciation of Rhea is RAY-uh. I think REE-uh is an acceptable alternate pronunciation in the US. The one-syllable pronunciation RAY seems like a last name to me.

    I prefer Rhea, being Greek and all. Raya is pretty too though.
