Bad day

Running errands yesterday turned into near disaster.  First, LO had fallen asleep but woke up when in the store after just 20 minutes.  He was getting fussy, so I took him out of the car seat to help him settle a bit.  I hadn't brought in a burp rag b/c he was supposed to sleep the whole time.  Wouldn't you know it, he spit up majorly...all over himself, all over me, all over the floor.  I cleaned it up with help from the store clerks (one found it amusing, the other not so much), quickly paid for my stuff, and left.

Then as I was pulling out at the intersection I heard a thud.  I realized I had left my wallet and Sophie on top of the car.  I did a U-turn across 3 lanes of traffic, got in the left turn lane, put on my flashers, and got out.  Dashed across 2 lanes to get the wallet then back to the car.  Right before I went to get Sophie a car ran over her.  (She is now recovering.  The tire marks have been removed but her squeaker has been permanently damaged by the accident).

Right then I realized when I put DS back in his car seat, I had not buckled it because we were still shopping.  Oh my! I was shaking at this point.  I quickly got back in the car, pulled into a nearby lot, and buckled him up.  I was shaking for about an hour.  Uggggghhh. I still feel bad about it.

So...that was my day.  Just the afternoon part. Awesome.

Re: Bad day

  • Not to laugh at you but just invisioning Sophie being ran over and "in recovery" is hilarious to me.

I hope your day gets better!  If you makes you feel any better I went to the mall last week and got LO one, put her in her stroller and went inside.  When leaving the store and walking back to my car I realized I left my door wide open.  Anyone could have robbed my car but luckily they didn't.  I have become so forgetful now that I have LO.

  • Oh i'm so sorry you had such a bad day. But hey, Sophie is recovering and DS is just fine:)

And just so you know, I forgot to strap  my DD in her car seat a couple of times now. It happens to all of us, it's not as bad as you think. Hang in there!!

And who cares about spitup, that one clerk is a douche!!! DD spits up, too. The only bad part is that I then smell like sour cheese LOL

  • oh yeah. I've been there on all counts.

I forgot to buckle DS in once when it was cold and he had a blanket covering him up in the stroller. Now I'm so paranoid every time I get in the car, it's ridiculous. and if I had a nickel for every time I've left something on top of the car.... it's to the point that DH knows the sound and just rolls his eyes and says, "what'd you leave up there?" as I dash out to retrieve it. usually my coffee - thank goodness for those stainless steel starbucks cups!!

and you say that running over her with a car will de-squeak sophie?... hm... <<eyes car thoughtfully>>

chin up girl. we've all had 'em. ((HUGS))

  • Oh I'm glad you were able to recover your wallet.  I've forgotten to buckle in Baby K before too.

I've always been real quick about entering and exiting my car and being alert about strangers nearby because stories you hear about women getting kidnapped.  It takes me so long to get in and out of the car with the baby and all his stuff and I'm not near as alert as I used to be.  Hope I didn't scare anyone.
