BLW - so excited!

I just did a bunch of reading up on BLW and am now SOSOSO excited! I cannot wait to watch Z try and eat his food once he turns 6 months. I think Ill order the BLW cookbook in the next few weeks.

Looks like I have some unopened cereals, spoons, bowls and jarred food to return...

I feel a little bad since we were given a nice baby food maker as a gift. Should I still hold onto it just in case? Or will it be unneccessary since we are going the BLW route?

  • I have a Beaba and I don't know that I will use it, either. I got it as a gift way back when I was pregnant so I don't have a receipt. I am not sure that I will never ever give him a pur?e, but it seems so silly to have a machine to do what an oven and blender can do.

  • I'm looking into doing BLW.  I may do a modified version and give him some purees until he gets the hang of it.  He doesn't sleep without some food in him.

I say chuck the beaba. you hit the nail on the head when you said it is a separate machine that can do what a steamer pot and food processor or blender can do just as well. I got suckered into buying one when I was feeding DS1 (I didn't do BLW). I loved making him food but could easily have done so with things I already had. If you can return it, that's what I'd advise, FWIW.

Other than that - good luck with the BLW!! Smile

  • Chuck the baby food maker. And in my opinion, chuck the cookbook too. One of the biggest benefits of BLW is you can feed your baby what your having. No different or special meals for baby. It's really easy at beginning to just make sure you have some food cut into the right size/shape for baby (finger shaped). Roasted sweet potato fries, broccoli florets, etc.
