Foods to avoid after age 1?

I forgot to ask pedi today at DD3's 1 year check-up, but what foods are you still supposed to avoid? We talked about dairy because she's been MPI, but not anything else. I think the guidelines have changed since DD2 was a baby. What did your pedi say about peanut butter? honey? shellfish? anything else? We have no family history of food allergies.

Re: Foods to avoid after age 1?

  • I didn't ask about foods to avoid - I just tried C on peanut butter and honey and he was fine. not sure about shellfish. But egg is fine - i'd just be carefull around foods that have a family history of problems

  • No popcorn, no nuts (chocking hazard), no whole grapes. I've heard no peanut butter because it's a choking hazard not just because of the peanuts... I'm sure there are other things as well.

  • No peanuts.popcorn.celery or stringy foods. Skin on an apple.whole grapes. Hot dogs must be cut in quarters.raw carrots. These are all chokin hazzards. Hard candies.to name a few.

  • Pedi said no restrictions on food anymore, but you obviously have to avoid choking hazards. He's pretty laid back about foods, though, because he told me at 6 months the only thing that was a definite no was honey.

Same. We were told at 4 months to give whatever we wanted, except honey. We didn't do this, of course, but at 1 year old, DD has had all these "no no" foods with no problems (except honey). We are conscious about choking though...I cut the food so small that sometimes she crams several pieces in her mouth without a problem.
