Anyone get a tubal ligation? I'm considering it

Just wondering if anyone has had this done and what your experience has been.  Any side effects or unpleasant outcomes?

My doctor said there are two ways of doing it:  they can either make an incision in the abdomen and go that way at the hospital or he can do it through the cervix right in his office which is faster and cheaper and just as effective.   Anyone know about this?

TIA!

  • I did Essure which I think is the second one you mentioned. If it is I just had it done in march super easy 1 hour down time that was it. I was awake for it all. Takes three months before they know if it works so they have me a depo shot the same day. I go next week to have dye injected to see if it took and I hear that is more uncomfortable then the actual procedure. They put coils of wire in your tubes to close them so I said the bedazzled my uterus:)

  • I did, with my last son. I just did it when I had a c-section, which was planned because I had one with my first son. So far no real side effects other than on and off crampy feeling, I have yet to get AF which I've heard can be much worse after a tubal. But I think for most people it's pretty much symptom free.

  • I considered it but did an IUD instead. My doctor said as effective so i figured why go through tubal.
