Natural Birth

Due Tomorrow and Nervous

I'm alternating between being antsy about getting this labor going and scared out of my mind about what's going to happen.  I'm not actually looking forward to any part of it.  It's terrible of me to say, but even the thought of the baby makes me more scared than happy.  I know that I can do it, that our bodies are designed for labor, but I'm being a total pansy.

Re: Due Tomorrow and Nervous

  • Hmm it sounds to me like you are gonna have a baby soon.  I was the same way in the week or so before DS was born.

You will be amazed at what you will do and what takes over when you go into labor.  Go with the flow and try to do the impossible right now and don't think about it.

  • I'm having a hard time not thinking about it right now, though I guess that's par for the course, too.  I'm out of work already, so I have nothing to do other than wait at this point.

  • I was out of work my entire pregnancy.  It takes practice being home.  You're doing great.  It's the not knowing that is hardest.

  • Thanks, that actually does make me feel betterSmile

  • It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought .  One contraction at a time.  Don't think about what's to come or how long you've been in labour or any of that.  Focus on the current contraction and relax in between.

  • Oh and coming from someone with little infant handling experience..trust me, motherly instinct kicks in.

  • For me, the anticipation ad waiting was by far the worst part. Once you are in the thick of it, your brain quiets down and your body takes over. You can do it mama! Almost there and then the real fun begins!

  • Don't worry.  In a week you'll be so pizzed off about still being pregnant it'll drive all the nervousness away.

    Stick out tongue

    You'll do fine.  Good luck!!

I was the same way. I was on bed rest from week 31 until my son's birth at week 34. It drove me crazy!
