Baptism question

For those of you baptizing your baby I have a question.  Do you know if boys still wear gowns generally or is that old fashioned?  I have my gown from when i was baptized but DH thinks it is silly that he would wear a "dress".  LOL

Anyone have any input on this? 

This will be a Catholic ceremony if that makes a difference.

    I'm Lutheran so I'm not sure how the Catholics do it, but we have some in our congregation that do the gowns and some that don't. We're just going to get LO a cute little suit to wear. But you can find nice baptism gowns at JC Penny's or Dillards or places like that!

    You might want to ask your church -- i don't think most care -- i've seen many where boys have little suits. Some are probably a lot more old fashioned and may think the gowns are appropriate -- probably your best bet would be to ask the church office!

    I know some traditional people still put boys in gowns.  If my gown wasn't too girly, I would put DS in mine, but since it is, I will be buying him a new one.  I am sure the church is not going to care either way.

Dec - Clomid #4 200mg Feb 2010 - IUI #1 200mg Clomid = BFN. June 2010 - IUI #2 200mg Clomid = BFN. March 2011 - IUI #3 w/ injectables = BFN (1st & last with RE, moving on to IVF).     they sell both so apparently it doesn't fully matter, i think it's just a tradition to wear a gown. all the boys in our family had a gown and we're like  a hardcore irish catholic family.

    We will be having our baby baptized in a gown, we don't know the gender yet but when we do it will not make a difference to us. We are using a gown that my whole family including me wore.

    I've been looking for a baptism gown for my son that has the romper underneath that after the ceremony you can unbutton the gown part. I like the traditional gown too and thought that was a good compromise with my DH.

    It's our plan to have baby baptized in the christening gown first worn by my grandfather in 1902. Aside from it being a family heirloom, I'm not a fan of the white baby suits.

    My DS will wear an gown for the Baptism since it is a family heirloom. I may buy one of those cute suits to change him into for after the actual Baptism though.
