Depends on the doctor. But they will be checking the placenta and your fluid levels, which can start to deteriorate the farther you get along in your pregnancy.

Mine is Friday, unless baby makes an appearance earlier. Seems pretty normal to check placenta and fluid. I had a non stress test today. My doctor said it is basically making sure it is still okay to be pregnant since I'm not "ripe" for induction.
My LO was born at 41 weeks.. I had the BPP at 40 weeks 3 days, it is pretty much to make sure the OB doesn't have to induce. Checks the fluid level and makes sure your munchkin is moving and taking "practice breaths". My OB did that along with a non stress test. I wouldn't worry about it at all. :-)
Completely normal. And actually since I was 35 weeks I have had a BPP every week. It is just my particular doctor's practice/policy. Which I don't mind seeing little one on the sonogram every week And getting to hear his heart beat for 20 minutes a week is totally okay with me as well. Gives me reassurance that all is well with my son
