5.5 months, anyone else think this stage is hard?

I have twins and I feel like I have hit such a hard stage with them. I am a stay at home mom and part of my issue is that my little boy just had major surgery May 31st to seperate his sutures that had fused together prematurely in his head. That absolutely wore me out. Between worry, being in the hospital for 6 days and tending to a very sick baby I am exhausted. My son has since been really wanting to be held but is slowly getting better. For 3 nights my husband and I took 2 hours shifts rocking him all night long. ANYWAYS, my point is that both my babies are so difficult right now. They don't seem content for long periods of time and they ALWAYS want me to be holding them. They fight sleep really bad and still aren't sleeping through the night.... anyone else experiencing anything similar?

  • That sounds like my DD.  She won't ever let me put her down and won't stay in any of her 'toys' for long at all.  She screams when she gets tired and it takes forever to get her to sleep (tried getting her to nap earlier...but no).  She still gets up 1-2  times a night (which is much better than my older son at that age at least). So I hear you.

Hope that your boy is doing ok.  That sounds so stressfull in itself!

  • We aren't there yet, but I have no idea how you twin mommies do it! Will they settle at all in the swing? Hoping it will pass soon and glad your H is helping.

  • I consider this the "fun" stage because she is rolling, babbling, laughing, etc. But you have twins so I can understand where you're coming from. I couldn't imagine doing what you do. You guys are very strong!!!

  • I am SO happy I am not alone.

First and foremost I hope your lil one is okay!  I get upset when my baby is constipated so I can't imagine her in the hospital.  That alone would wear me out.

Secondly, I was just thinking this morning "Does this get any easier?  Should she really be this fussy?  Is something wrong with her?"  She just wants to be picked up and carried around.  If I sit down...you would think I told her she wasn't getting any toys for Christmas.  So we walk around and look at pictures.  The second I just place her down so I can go to the bathroom its a crying fit all over again.  I even took her to the doctor bc I was convinced something was wrong.  The doctor said "Well...your in trouble" and at first I was like "WHAT" and she said "She is going to be a handful.  She knows what she's doing and she is totally fine.  If she didn't calm down when you picked her up we would have an issue but she's just being dramatic."  Leave it to me to have a dramatic child =)

  • Ditto to all of this- the only thing that is really saving us lately is the sling. He loves it!
