The only thing that is required of me in order to have a waterbirth at my hospital is that I take a birth class. I am taking a natural birth class but it not specific to waterbirths. I was just wondering, for those of you with experience, is there any kind of preparation I should do on my own before I go into labor? All of my energy has been going into preparing for a natural birth in general but nothing specific to a waterbirth. Any advice is welcome! TIA.
Re: Prepping for waterbirth?
THIS!
Though I ended up wanting to get out of the tub to deliver. Weird, I know. I felt like I was not able to push properly in the water for whatever reason. I labored in the tub and then pushed for about 20 minutes on a birthing stool before my DD was born. Keep in mind, I would not have traded in that tub for the world! My contractions were so much stronger and more painful out of the water. GL!
No, I don't think so. Just get in and enjoy.
