I know that a lot of people have at least thought about or even decided on names for their future babies. Do you get annoyed when you think that you've found the perfect name, and then all of a sudden everyone is using it before you get a chance? This has happened to me a few times, but most recently it is Declan. I love that name. I had only heard the name once before in a movie, and now it seems like it's everywhere.
Re: Question about names
Not really. I've accepted that the names I love will more than likely be on the popular side...at some point.
I used to love the name Isabella... I had a girl in the nursery at church and her name was Isabella and I just knew I would name my daughter that.. then Twilight came out...
Also, I loved the name Reese and then I became very good friends with a girl who has a daughter named Reese so that wont work either...
I dont get frustrated though, because then it makes me think of other names I would use, and I usually end up liking them better
We are going with Sawyer Ryanne (pronounced Ryan) if we have a little girl, so I dont think that will become too popular anytime soon
Sawyer Ryanne due Jan 1, 2017
I get more annoyed when a name I love is used by a celebrity (most recently, Bruce Willis and his wife naming their daughter Mabel). I consider most of my top 10 names pretty safe, but you never know.
And I agree that Declan is definitely seeing a rise in popularity right now. I feel like I hear it everywhere.
I thought that we were safe at least with boy's names, but evidently not. I don't think that we will ever agree on a girl's name, so I hope that we have a boy someday...soon.

I've never seen Sawyer used for a girl's name, I love it. The whole name sounds beautiful.
I'm not sure about first names, I go back and forth so many times. Right now, I really like Oliver for a boy and Lyra for a girl. The one name I haven't wavered on in years is a middle name for a boy, which would be Michael after my dad (and my husband, coincidentally).

yes, I've wanted to name my daughter Krystal since I was like 14, but I've recently become very close friends with a woman named Crystal(like close enough I may consider asking her to be godmother).... and now I feel like maybe I shouldn't use it, although I've told her and she said she didn't care....
ETA: oh, I also used to like the name Jayden, till I found out it was one of my close friend's porn name when she did porn
and I hate when people end up attaching memories to certain names and I feel like I can't use them anymore
I don't worry about if a name is "too popular". If my DH and I love it, we think it will age well, can be easily pronounced/spelled, and doesn't have a glaring tease-worthy quality, then it is ok in my book. I don't understand the desire to find a name that is unique (but not you-neek).
FWIW, I love Declan. It could be rising in popularity because of the character on Revenge.
Our daughter is Addison (definitely popular, but not Isabelle/Sophia popular) & our #2 names are Cate & Benjamin.

MH likes Jacob for a boy, but I'm a bit more hesitant about it because of the Twilight trend.
We tend to like more classic and traditional names, so they'll likely always be popular (Elizabeth, Jayne, Christopher, Joshua). I'm not a fan of "trendy" names. Caitlin (and all it's variations) were really popular when my sister was born. She was always one of five other girls with the same name growing up in school. I think she found it kind of annoying--also because everyone wanted to shorten her name to "Kate," which she hated. I'd like to avoid that w/ my kids if I can.
I mostly get frustrated when other family members use names that I love. I know I have no control over this and that it is absurd to be upset. That's why Nathan (which I love, love, love!) and Charlotte are now off the table. Two of my cousins just had babies w/ these names. Our kids would be the same generation as their kids, so it would be weird if our kids had the same names.
