Feeling so overwhelmed

I have three son and they need so much from me I feel so drained tonight. My 8 year old is almost done with school but not yet so he needs to be kept on track with home work and such.  My 19 month old is very high energy and needs a lot of my time, he's still adjusting to the baby. And my 4week old is a 4 week old and needsme a lot since we ebf and he's a baby. I'm a sahm and so I'm with them all the time. Dh has been working more so I can sah and works 13 hour days 3 days a week for his real job and has been doing side stuff on his days off. By this time of night I am so done and both babies need me 100% of the time!! I'm hot and sick of poopy diapers! And just done, anyone else having a hard day?

Re: Feeling so overwhelmed

  • I can only imagine how you are feeling.  I'm very grateful that we kept my 3 year old at daycare/school while I'm on maternity leave.  I think I would be feeling the same as you if I had my 3 year old and newborn 24/7.  Could you look into a morning program for your 19 month old? or a friend that can take him to the park one morning so you can have a break?  Hang in there it will get better soon.

  • I give you so much credit.  You are doing fantastic job.  DD is pretty needy/fussy and there are days where I feel like I can't do it and that's just with her.

  • I feel you. I have a three year old son that is VERY active. I also run a home daycare and will be reopening next week. It's going to be tough. My H is gone from the house over 12 hours a day too. You're not alone. :-)

  • I am overwhelmed some days with just the one so I can only begin to imagine how you are feeling. I just wanted to tell you that you are a rock star mom and that you can do it!!!! HUGS.
  • Thanks girls, knowing I'm not alone helps.  And a morning program for ds is not an option since I'm not working to save on day care and have more time with my kids. I did get to shop today with just lo since dh was home that was a nice break. Thanks again

  • I am a member of the 3 boys club and yes it is a lot of work! I am enjoying it but there are moments in which the ... hits the fan and I feel so incredibly overwhelmed. We had our first outing today (just me and the boys) and it took us 2 hours more then normal just to get out the door. I have no idea what it is going to be like to get DS1 to school. Luckily it will only be 2 days a week. I just keep reminding myself that this is a very short season and that things will get better soon, especially when I am getting more sleep!

  • Yup, I have 3 too. A 4 year old, a just turned 2 year old and a newborn. My DH works insane hours as a corporate attorney, and we are both exhausted. I am a SAHM and we pretty much all stay at home together all the time so far, lol. I am fine pretty much all day until about 5 and then I am wiped and by 8pm mommy is done! Thank goodness our new baby goes to bed by 7:30 every night and is sleeping a few 5 hour stretches here and there. Although, he was up with gas pains from 2am to 3:30. He is a really easy baby usually though so that helps. I think the main thing getting me through the rough times are thinking about HOW MUCH EASIER it DOES get! The first year is the toughest, and then I am hopeful that they will all have so much fun playing together. You are definitely not alone!
