newborns= no sleep!

OK, I know I shouldnt expect the babies to sleep much at night, but it seems like one or the other is up at all hours!  They take turns crying between bottles. It's tough because I feel like I'm running on empty! I dont think I've gotten more than a half hour sleep at a time. And there's really not much of a chance to nap during the day. Will they actually reach a point where they sleep more soundly? Thanks for letting me vent! I adore my girls but the sleep thing is tough!

  • I am excited to finally meet my girls in the next few weeks, but the sleepless nights and no more naps scare me. Good luck.

  • I agree... and we should all be allowed to vent.  We've to 4 week twins, and a 15 month old.  Thankfully the big brother goes to bed at 8pm.  But he wakes at 7am and needs to be changed, fed, and entertained.  This is usually when the twins are deep into their morning sleep (6am-10am) and is really frustrating.  DH goes back to work from FMLA Monday and I'm dreading being the ONLY caretaker for all three of them!!

  • um yeah.. I understand completely! Hang in there.. I know I keep telling myself to as well!
  • There will be a point when they sleep three - four intervals soon.  Try to keep them both on the same schedule so you can at least get 2 hours straight of sleep.  It does get better.  I promise!
  • Hang in there.  It does get better!  I remember thinking they are never going to sleep more than 2 hours at night and then it happened and it was heaven!  And then I remember thinking they are never going to STTN and then it happened and it was heaven!

    It just takes time, unfortunately when you are there running on empty it seems like it will never happen.  And you are allowed to vent away all you want!

    *hugs* it will get better.

  • I ditto the pp's...I'm officially scared (as if I haven't been scared for 27 weeks already!..ha..ha).
