Compared to some stories here, I don't think mine does much.
At my first appointment, they gave me a handout with general weight guidelines.
At my 15 week, they mentioned not to worry I had lost a few pounds, I would gain soon.
At my 20, an offhand comment that my weight gain was "good."
Nothing today at my 24 week or any other appointments. So I'm just assuming it's all good. Just strange compared to what I seem to hear on this board about doctors getting all over you (either for gaining too much or not enough).
PS I did not find the glucose solution to be that bad. Then again I drank a lot of crazy shizz in college.
Re: How much does your doctor discuss weight?
This.
Basically not at all so far. Just a single comment at my appt at 18 weeks that my weighy was stable and they'd like me to gain about 10 pounds during pregnancy.
I'm more upset that they have asked nothing about diet. Being weeks away from being a dietitian, I know I am hyper focused on nutrition, but I think it's pretty ridiculous that my doc has never asked about diet and has no clue I am mostly a vegetarian (occasional fish).
My doctor hasn't asked about my diet either. They had some information on another handout. I am glad he hasn't asked though because he would not enjoy the answer, lol.
My first appointment when they go over all the initial info he tells me the expected weight gain.
With LO I gained 50 and maybe even a little over. Never made one comment to me about it.
Not at all. I know that it is written in my chart and if it were to start being a matter of concern they would address it but so far everything centers on a healthy diet and moderate pregnancy-safe exercise.
I don't even know what I gained with DD. I have a rough estimate based on my own general calculations but even that was only from what I weighed around the time I got pregnant and what I weighed at the hospital the day she was born.
m/c at 13 weeks - March 23, 2011
After 7 years of no ovulation...
BFP#1 10/24/11 ~ EDD 6/29/12 ~ Natural m/c 11/2/11
BFP#2 2/3/12 ~ Alice born 9/26/12
Not at all. In fact, I don't even get weighed at my regular appointments. When I asked, they just said that's standard practice here now, and they don't care how much you weigh as long as everything else looks good.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
Hasn't said a word about it. I lost right around 20 lbs at the beginning and I haven't gained any of it back, but I can definitely afford to lose some weight. I think if I wasn't currently pregnant, between eating better, and laying off the booze, I would have lost a lot more than I have.
I'll prob ask about it during my next appt.
This for me too!

My OB discusses it every.single.appointment (which is every two weeks now). She is concerned because of twins and that she thinks I've gained 11 pounds. Unfortunately she is going by the pre-pregnancy weight I told them which was me, at my house, naked and lower than they would have had on their scale at the time. So I've only gained about 4 pounds overall. Because of this there will be an U/S every two weeks for a while to check on the growth of the babies to make sure everything is alright.
I assure her I am eating as much as I can and not skimping on the calories (I make sure to eat healthy, but more of a full fat version).
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
Not at all. I actually discuss most everything with his nurse. She's also family and awesome to talk to. With my first I gained the typical "25-30" rule. With my second I only gained 13 (and nothing was different between the pregnancies) and so far I just started to gain since my 16 week appt. The nurse told me at my 16 week that now its time to start gaining, lol. I'm sure if I was gaining too much they'd say something, but that's never been an issue, lol
Every. Single. Appointment.
I was seriously stressed about my weight this month because I had gained 7.5lbs last month and I got side-eyed. So I completely cut out fruit juices from my diet and gained 2.5lbs this month. I personally just think my body needed to gain the weight.
I do keep my weight in check just because I've always been active and a healthy eater so I do put importance on weight. That's just me being me though.
Well, I have twins, so I NEED to gain weight and she is concerned that I am not eating enough. She doesn't think I have gained too much... she thinks I haven't gained enough.
