okay so i'm not going to TTC for another year or so, but i'm a planner.
so i like to have all the information ahead of time.
how long did you TTA off of BCP before you TTC?
i've been on BCP since i was 13. by the time we ttc i'll have been on them for over 10 years.
so i want to give my body some time to adjust off the pill before TTC. thats a good idea right?!
You don't have to wait after going off birth control. If your doctor tells you to wait it's probably because for most women your cycles are irregular coming off of birth control. Don't forget to use another form of birth control if you go off BCP before you're ready to TTC.

We didn't TTA at all after going off the pill, but I did have one
anovulatory cycle. I guess the point of letting your cycles regulate is
so you'll know when you conceived to give you a better idea of your due
date, but if you're charting, that won't be a problem.

whats that mean?
I was a bad chicken and didn't drop an egg that time. I had a 41-day cycle and a light light AF. Apparently that's common coming off the pill, and some ladies experience cycles that are even longer than that.
At my last pap in June '08, I told my doctor that we would be TTC in a few months. I don't understand why you just can't mention it at your yearly pap, unless TTC surprises you....?

That's what I did. She asked me if I smoked, and I said no. She asked me if I drank, and I said yes, and she said to take it easy with that while TTC. She asked me about nutrition and I told her that I tried to eat well and take a daily multivitamin, and she said that was fine. And to call her if I had any questions. It was a pretty quick conversation.
Everyone on here is a fairly informed bunch, but I think those women who don't inform themselves beforehand may benefit from a pre-TTC appointment. Think of some of the questions we see posed here. Honestly, I had a friend who just told me yesterday she is pregnant and in the same conversation I learned she doesn't truly understand what ovulation is. She could have probably benefitted from a convo with her doc. Obviously, she still got pregnant, but I don't know if she is taking PNVs yet, for example.
We started TTC already and it never donned on me whether I needed to tell my doc beforehand. I have my annual apt next week, so I'll mention it then.

Re: okay serious question
Kdodge is wise, as usual.
But then again, some women need to be told to stop taking bcp's, taking pnv's, and have a lot of sex.

I agree with this. I had one and I'm glad I did.

see this is what i'm thinking about doing. is just not having to worry about pills. ya know.
i won't have to worry about pills, or sex, or worrying about if i'm ktfu or not.
