My LO is still EBF. We haven't really started solids yet, but we are letting him play with cucumber sticks (he loves to teethe on them) and he has managed to get a few pieces of broccoli and chicken up to his mouth to taste them. He can't yet sit up on his own, but as soon as he can, we are going to start him on finger foods in earnest. I'm pretty excited about skipping purees and cereals.

BLW = Baby Led Weaning. For more info: https://www.babyledweaning.com/
I just finished reading Gil Rapley's book on the subject, which was really helpful.
We did with our first and will with dd2. My H and I both agree it was one of the best parenting decisions we made with dd1.
So do I. And actually, that is one of the tenets of BLW. Playing with food between 6-9 months helps develop hand-eye coordination and the pincher grasp. During the early months of BLW the idea is that your baby will still get the vast majority of its nutrition from breast milk or formula.
