Does the baby typically stop moving as much right before labor? I know that they tend to slow down a little due to a lack of room, but are there any other signs?? My LO is still moving up a storm and I'm at 39 weeks!
Good question - I was going to ask the same thing! I'm 39 weeks today and Baby is as active as ever. It's definintely lower down but I'm guessing b/c Baby is so big it's VERY uncomfortable at times! I do wonder if that means I'm no where near delivery...

Although my daughter was a few weeks early, she did not stop moving at all. In fact, she was so active during labor they had a hard time keeping the monitors on her because she was all over the place. I think some babies slow down their movement closer to end because of the lack of room, I only made it to 34 weeks with her so I'm not quite sure what happens after that.

Baby Girl Gracie Mae born 5 weeks early on 7/6/11. Baby boy JT born full term on 7/5/12.
We are blessed!
At 40w 1d my son stopped moving. I poked at him, jiggled him, drank some cold water and ate some ice cream and NOTHING. I freaked out and called the Dr. and they had me come in right away to get hooked up and monitored. Of course as soon as I sat down on the table he moved. But they wanted to check things out anyway. Everything worked out and he was moving. I was 5cm and having regular BH's every 5+minutes so the Dr. offered to pop my water if I wanted. I figured, it's past my EDD, why not? 9 hours after arriving in the hospital, he was born.
I know you arent experiencing it, but for those who may - If you feel a decrease in movement you should see your doctor immediately. Everything could be completely normal or baby could be in distress. I noticed a decrease in movement, had to go in for a fetal stress test, and they ended up inducing me because he wasnt moving enough. DS had a knot in his cord and had the cord wrapped around him. You can never be too safe.
