Bright Starts Play Mat

I received this prop n' play mat as a shower gift. (Bumping from phone so it may not be clicky.)

While I think it's really cute, I hadn't registered for one on purpose. I realize I'm new at this, but kind of figured a blanket, boppy pillow, and baby toys which I already have would do the trick.

Non-FTMs, is this something you've used? Should I keep it or try to exchange it for something else? Thanks! :)

Re: Bright Starts Play Mat

  • Yeah, that playmat looks like about equal to using a blanket, boppy and toys. You might want to consider exchanging it for the type of playmat (sometimes called an activity gym) that has 2 arches overtop with toys dangling. Those are nice for babies, say, under 6 months, because they can also lay on their backs and reach up and bat at the toys. Still not a total necessity, but they're fairly cheap and mine would sometimes keep my daughter occupied for 15 minutes or so. Here's an example: https://www.target.com/p/bright-starts-activity-gym-lion-in-the-park/-/A-12184023 (but you might find one you like better if you're willing to spend a little more!)

  • i agree... i think a gym/activity mat with overhead toys is much better.. i'm looking at this fisher price gym..
  • Thanks so much for your help, girls! Play gym/activity mat it is then! :)

  • Exchange it. I got one for DD at my shower and we never even used it. She DID like the little play gym mat with the dangly toys. One of those might be more useful.
