We have an IEP

Recently we weren't sure if DS would qualify since he's made SOO much progress with EI and the school district wouldn't be working with him on his food issues directly since it's not an educational issue.

However, we had his IEP meeting yesterday since he has a summer birthday and he qualified.  The team created 3 very relevant goals for him.  I left the meeting feeling very confident in the services that the pre-school will be providing him. 

He will be going to preschool 5 days a week for 2 1/2 hours a day starting in August.  I don't want to say that I'm happy he qualified, but I'm satisfied that they saw he still needed services to prepare him for school.

    I'm glad you have a plan. And I understand.

    My DS has an August birthday (School year starts after Labor Day here) and has 2 months left in EI. He will be evaluated by the school district imminently and I'm not sure if he'll qualify.  He does have sensory issues still, but his other developmental delays seems to have been caught up and he is mostly at age level. But I'm not confident that he will be ready for school without more OT and ST for remaining articulation issues.
