I can't imagine a situation where it would be OK not to write a thank you note, but I'm old fashioned that way, I guess.
Yes, this for me too.
I know, but I guess in my family we never wrote thank you notes....so I was debating whether I had to for my family or not. I guess it is a good reason to send a cute photo from her party!
I always send thank you cards for more official affairs. A's first birthday counts in that category imo.
Now, do I always send them if a friend casually gets me a birthday present or something? No. I thank them in person and often follow up with a text. That's fine, imo. I wouldn't expect an official TY card if I did that for a friend either.
i'm on the fence with this - traditionally we don't do thank you cards in australia for birthday parties - that's what you give lolly bags or party favours for - but lots of parents don't even do that.
I'm sending thankyous because i feel like i should. I think most people will be surprised to recieve them - but i'd like to think i'm bringing "OLD SCHOOL" manners back

Absolutely. And I love the example I am setting for my girls. I send thank you's for EVERYTHING we get, and I know my family and friends appreciate it.
Re: Click Poll: Thank You Cards
My mom taught me that you don't have to send thank you's for gifts that you recieve in person, but after being on TB I think maybe she was wrong.
I sent cards for all gifts, those we got in the mail and those we got at her party.
Yes. We ordered some with a picture from his birthday party.

I'm sure it was intended, but what a GREAT choice of picture!
Thanks
. The picture actually inspired the card (DH designed it).
