OK, I am at about 13 weeks and the doctor keeps going strong about the flu vac. Did you get it? I have been talking with people and doing research about the thimerosal (mercury) found in the vac and how it is linked to autism (well, mostly linked that is..). My gut tells me not to, but I want to hear what other moms-to-be are doing/thinking!

( I guess I'm supposed to get it soon since I'm due in June) What do you think or what did you do?
Re: Flu vaccination....did you get it?
I get it every year... and my Dr recommended it... so I got it last month.
I didn't get it, only because I don't have a primary care doc at the time and my OB doesn't give them out. At this point, I will probably skip it. By the time I get in to see a new GP, the time to get one will be past.
Just call me lazy.?

Yep. After experiencing the flu 36wks pregnant and wishing for a speedy death, I'm not taking that chance again. It was a hell I can't even describe in words. It nearly put me in the hospital because of the fever (ya....Tylenol kept it at about 101). The chills, the body aches.....OMG, I wanted to die. I couldn't sleep. I just wanted NyQuil and couldn't have it. I didn't sleep for 2 wks. Finally, my OB gave me Ambien so I could get some sleep.
It lasted for 3 hellish weeks. I kept praying I didn't go into labor because there was no way I could have dealt with that being so sick.
I got the flu in May, too, when I thought it was "safe". It sucked.
I got mine about a month ago. Pregnant women are #2 on the list from the CDC to take the shot and my MW highly recommended it.

If you are worried about it, and would otherwise get a flu shot, they do make thimerosal-free versions of the flu shot. My DD and I both got those this year, and I did the same thing with my last PG just to be on the safe side.
no, but I never get the flu shot. When it comes to medications I'm a "If it ain't broke don't fix it" person.
I live in an area where a doctor givving shots also gave everyone hepatitis because he re-used the syringes. After hearing that, I'm not too keen on being poked with needles.
Getting it on Tuesday
