My daughter will be 3 in July, and she's always been SUPER attached to me. To the point where I couldn't leave her side to run to the store, go to the bathroom, etc. Even when she was around 2 months old she didn't like anyone to hold her except me. Yes, even my husband.
Well, recently she's into this kissing thing. Not regular kisses. Long kisses. Ones where she wants to hold my face. I know she gets it from tv, because everytime someone kisses on tv (yes, even the Disney movies), she comments on them kissing. She doesn't kiss anyone else like this. Not even my husband. As a matter of fact, she won't voluntarily give ANYONE a kiss, except for me. And it's usually long, and sometimes afterward she'll tell me "I love you".
Is this normal? I know she's only showing her love for mommy, but I don't know if I should turn away her kisses and show her more appropriate "mommy/daughter" kisses, or what!
Re: Kissing: Repost from Toddler 24+ board (for STMs)
It's not making me uncomfortable, but I worry that:
1. She'll think this is how you kiss...everyone
2. We'll be at the store, church, etc. and she'll want to plant a long passionate kiss on me.
3. Someone else may see her kissing mommy and quickly judge and turn a harmless situation...ugly.

My daughter just turned two a few weeks ago and does this exact thing. I don't think she gets it from movies, I think she just thinks it's funny. She'll grab my face and kiss me and keep her eyes open wide and then start laughing. I don't mind... I think it's cute. Unlike you, she does do it to my husband as well. We say "Brynn is 'making out' with me again, watch out!"
I think it's perfectly normal and completely fine.

don't worry about what others will say your LO is just showing you that she loves you... My son only kisses me like that when he really really wants something he's not supposed to have aka-playdough or icecream lol
My son does this with me too. I know it is from watching me and DH kiss because he wants to do it more after he sees us. Yesterday we were out at lunch and he was being especially lovey and kept saying, I want to kiss you on the lips!
Usually I will just give him a quick peck on the lips to appease him and then tell him that mommy likes it best when he kisses me on the cheek and only daddy kisses me on the lips. He's never tried to kiss anyone else like this so I'm not worried about that. I also know that many little boys want to marry their mommies so I think it's pretty natural and not a big concern.
I think it is normal to go in and out of these stages.
My DD (5 years old) has gone in and out of these long kiss phases. She is back into it now. I explain to her that it makes me uncomfortable and explain that although we love each other, it is a different type of love. A little worse is that she loves to kiss friends she "loves." At her 5th birthday party, her and her best friend (a girl) decided that before she blew out her candles, they were going to kiss (and even more surprising, they kept it a secret). They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed. Then she blew out her candles. A few of my friends got the picture... it was cute and funny at the time. But we again and the talk about how we kiss friends that we love and relatives that we love.
