All I can imagine is snow, cold, and a tiny baby! Besides bringing warm blankets and thermal items, how else can I prepare for having a baby in the winter?
I'm in Indiana and you never know what you're going to get weather-wise. But let's say this winter was going to be horrible, what things should have ready and should I get done?
Lastly, how do you find cheap, maternity clothes for winter, like coats and sweaters? Those can get expensive!!
Thanks!!
Re: How to get ready for a Feb. baby?!!
I'm so not looking forward weather when baby is born. I live in Alaska and February is usually one of the worst months, like 40 below.
Poor baby will be cooped up in the house for a while after he/she's born. I haven't even started to think of all the cold weather gear we"ll need to get.

You will be home most of the time so I would just make sure you have footie PJs and/swaddles. I really liked the Halo blankets as well.
Burlington Coat Factory has super cheap clothes. I just bought a nice pair of maternity jeans for $9.99. Kohls has some cheap maternity work clothes.

I wore my husbands columbia coat when I was pregnant. Worked great!
I have issues with maternity clothes fitting right but the best I found were online at Gap. I always had free shipping and usually a 30 to 40% off coupon to use so never paid full price.
I am also in IN. I had an August baby last time. I would say the biggest difference will be having the baby lots of footie pjs instead of onesies. I am a SAHM, and I don't mind having a little one in pjs all day, especially in February. We keep the house pretty cool in the summer, so we had DD in swaddle blankets a lot anyway, and I plan on buying some more. We will probably have to add some blankets to the floor for tummy time, but we have wood floors. You might worry about LO getting cold, and be tempted to turn up the heat, but keep in mind that 68-70 (or 72, can't remember) is the recommended temperature to help avoid SIDs.
I bought very affordable maternity clothes from Kohls, Old Navy, and Once Upon a Child.
Ditto this. (We're in Oregon, too.)

Keep in mind you don't know what pregnancy will do to your body. Prior to getting pregnant with my son I was like a reptile - I was always cold and wore sweaters in the summer sometimes. Pregnancy completely flipped my switch and I was running our a/c in my 3rd trimester because I couldn't get cool.
PPs have good suggestions about consignment shops. I'd also say to think about sweater-jackets or large thick cardigans that you can layer over shirts, but still use after pregnancy.

Thanks for the ideas! I already looked at Kohl.com and BurlingtonFactory.com for some ideas - I'll definitley be looking at consignment shops and Goodwill!
Another concern that came to mind after reading some of your posts, is the dry air that usually comes around in Indiana during winter. How do I keep my baby's skin hydrated and, ha ha, are there any body issues I might run into with the dryer weather?
Thanks again!
I am looking forward to not being miserable and HOT during the biggest part of pregnancy!
You should look at Goodwill, or a second hand store. Or family members
Target tends to have a lot of clearance stuff too, you could start checking those racks!

We live in Arizona, and our winters are as mild as they come. But yeah, as someone else mentioned, you'll be inside most of the time anyway the first few months.
But I have to be honest (and maybe this is really weird), I was a little disappointed to have a February baby instead of, say, April or May. I just don't think winter birthdays are as fun. I have a May birthday and I always LOVED my birthday season. I'm just grateful my due date isn't end of December. I always feel bad for people who have birthdays on or around major Holidays!
