I'm looking at baby furniture but wondering if it's too early to buy a crib. Have you already bought one? If not, when will you? I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow.
WE have it and I will be putting it asap - we want it to 'gas off' for a few months.
DH was resistant as we had a friend of ours lose a baby 3 days after delivery - but I told him - we can't wait that long - so this is the route we took. (I'd say anytime after 12 weeks unless you know of an issue is "safe")
My husband and I are going to purchase our crib when I am about 24 weeks. This way we can put it together and let it air out for a few months before Ethan actually has to sleep in it. So I would say if you are feeling the energy to make it happen, go for it!
I think I was barely in 2nd Tri when we bought the crib for DS. I don't think it's ever too early. There was sale on cribs at Target so that's why we bought one when we did.
We probably won't actually buy the crib until the Baby is born. She'll proably sleep in a bassinet in our room for the first month or two at least, so I figure we'll wait until we're almost ready to move her into her crib before we buy one. The bassinet we'll probably have my Mom or DH's Mom buy the day the baby's born, when we're still in the hospital.
I know I've said this before... but Jewish tradition is to not buy anything for the baby until the baby is born. We're mostly following that but not 100%, and we're definitely accepting gifts and hand-me-downs from friends and family, we just aren't buying anything ourselves for the baby until she's born.
We may not have one. Daddy is building us a cradle that is bigger than standard size so hopefully we can use that for a while. Then, in theory, she will sleep in the pack n play till time for a toddler bed. Wr will see how that goes. LOL

We bought ours during a sale at BRU two weeks ago and put it together over the weekend. I'm happy to have lots of time to put the nursery together...so I won't feel rushed in the fall. Plus, it was on sale!
Back where Im from people usually don't buy stuff till the baby is born but since I grew up here I decided that I want everything ready before the baby is born. With that said no one in my household will let me buy anything till I'm in the 3rd trimester and they are throwig me a shower in mid/late september so no crib till then (my parents are buying it).
We bought and set ours up around 18-19 weeks. A week later we found out our baby has a heart defect. We still would not change the fact that we have the crib set up and ready. Anything can go wrong at anytime, regardless of issues, I think that's a fact about parenting - so I say go for it. We might have higher odds of something going wrong, but we must move on and continue....
When I was pg with DS, we had his crib ordered at like 13w (right after the NT scan) - it was supposed to take 16w to come in, but arrived *much* earlier, and we had it in the nursery by 21-22w. This time, we've barely started looking at cribs, but I figure the new baby will be in our room until at least March, so as long as the crib is ordered by December, we're in good shape. LOL

We were gifted one early in my pregnancy. It needs some work, so it's not set up yet. We are just starting to work on the nursery now, so we probably won't have it set up for a while.
We bought both cribs about 3 weeks ago. The store will be delivering them next week, after the room's painted, this weekend. We're also having the windows measured for curtains. By June 23rd (at exactly 24w) the nursery will be practically done!
I plan on ordering it as soon as I clean out the office which will become a nursery. I don't plan on doing that for another 2 or 3 weeks, so I will order it then!
DH and I have already looked at cribs, strollers, etc., etc. and we have picked out what we like. In 2 weeks we are taking a trip to the city to buy a lot of the stuff since we live 3 hours away from the closest Babies R Us.
We got our crib once the room was painted. This time, we will do the same. Though we may get it earlier than her room is finished due to it being a hand-me-over cousin's crib :]

DH was resistant as we had a friend of ours lose a baby 3 days after delivery - but I told him - we can't wait that long - so this is the route we took. (I'd say anytime after 12 weeks unless you know of an issue is "safe")
I'm sorry, but I find this statement ignorant, especially for someone who has a friend with a late loss. There is no "safe zone" for pregnancy. Things can go wrong at any time, for no apparent reason. Plenty of people with no known issues have second or even third tri losses. It's sad, but it's true.
To answer the OP's question: My ILs were very excited and gifted us the crib, dresser/changing table, and mattress about two weeks ago (they are awesome that way.) We just finished putting it all together this weekend.
We will probably get the crib after the baby comes unless someone gives us one before then since the baby will be in a cradle for the first few months.

I totally agree. It's a fact of life...anything can go wrong anytime. You just never know... I was kind of trying to get that across in my post, but you did much better.

My parents bought us the crib at about 17 weeks, it is still sitting in the box in our living room
We wanted to wait until after the anatomy scan before we put it together, just to make sure everything was okay.
