If only they made....

Straps around a pacifier that would go around the babys head! lol..ok maybe it was never invented because it is borderline child abuse but man it would be great! My baby loves his pacifier and falls asleep with it but as soon as it slips out of his mouth he is like a maniac, especially when he was just about into a deep sleep!  He also only will stay in the swing if he has the paci but again as soon as it comes out all hell breaks loose...

Out of curiosity anyone else have a LO that only takes the pacifier from the hospital, the soothie. He will only take that one I've tried other styles/brands

  • Mine liked the one from the hospital, but we had a few panicked hours of nipple/suck confusion and I had to tell them NO PACI! He can go back and forth between NUK and breast fairly easily. But, he's started rejecting it. I really wanted that extra SIDS reassurance. :(

  • I've said this since DD1 but with these 2 we don't give them their paci at bedtime unless nothing will settle them down. We still swaddle in the big swaddle halo sack fromt he hospital, we keep it a little loose around the neck and pull up the edge of the swaddle blanket so it's just barely covering part of the paci. If they suck too fast and it pops out the swaddle catches it so they can suck it back in, but if they are done with it and spit it out completely it just falls to their side. Don't know if its something you'd want to try or if I explaine dit well enough. It sounds dangerous but I promise we don't cover the whole mouth! Just below the bottom lip. I remember thinking those glasses straps would be great around a paci!

  • Adriana also only likes the soothie, which is annoying cuz that's the one that falls out super easiily.

  • They gave DS2 the soothie pacifier at the hospital. I was gonna bring my own but since my labor was so spontaneous there was no time to grab anything and it was hard enough to get DH to even bring up the right size clothes, so the soothie it was.

We were in the hospital a whole 25 hours total and when we got home sure enough baby said that any other pacifier was crap. Well I finally got him to take the nuk and then DS1 informed me he liked the other one better and kept finding it and sneaking it to him, resulting in us starting the nuk transformation all over again

As for it falling out of DS mouth well some times at night I just sleep with my arm hanging off the bed to hold the thing in his mouth.

  • I use the Soothie brand by choice. She loves them. I found that the Nuk gave her extra gas. It was like more air seeped through, my sisters daughter had the same problem.

She loves the soothie until she is really asleep then she wants nothing to do with it, so in that way we are lucky.  DD1 hated soothers she never ever used one.

We were just talking about this last night!  She is almost out and then the paci falls out and she screams.  She took the Nuk really well in the hospital and at home till she went to MILs house and she gave her a soothie...even though I had a Nuk in the bag.  She claims it is the only one she liked....not even sure where she got it...shutter....hope it was a new one and not one of the other grandkids.  Now she goes between the 2, I had taken the one from the hospital.  I was hoping she would take it at night, but not so much.

I've tried doing that but when it falls out it doesn't go like straight back it gets pushed to the side so then the blanket is like pushing it against his cheek ha. It won't bother him if he fell asleep already but if he is still up it pisses him off ha.. it does work sometimes so I guess I'll just keep trying that!

  • I had the same thought the other day!
  • I have thought the same thing because mine does the same thing.  I actually looked at the holes in the smoothie (the one from the hospital) to see if I could do something then decided it was the sleep talking.

I haven't tried other pacifiers but that's only because I bought that brand for home so that's all we have for now.
