HELP! DD complains of CONSTANT tummy ache

She has been complaining that her tummy hurts for the past 2-3 weeks straight. A couple of times a day. She's been eating a TON. She's pooping fine. I just started probiotics yesterday to see if that will help. I'm also putting her on soy milk to see if that helps.

  • Take her to the dr.

Do you see a pattern?  It could be gas.  is it after she eats certain things?  My DD is about to turn 5 and she has started to say her tummy hurts because she ate too much - its her way of saying she is full.

  • I've taken her in before. I talked to another dr yesterday when I took DS in. They aren't helpful.

I printed a calendar so I can write down when she complains. Last night it was midnight then at 7am. Sometimes after she eats. Sometimes before she needs to poop.

Does she have any food allergies or intolerances?  Does she get nervous or anxious?  I know that when I'm nervous about something that my tummy hurts sometimes.

  • My daughter has been doing this too!  I have no idea why, but would love others thoughts.

  • DD is doing this too and I can't figure it out either.  I do think her normal eating routine is really out of wack, but it could be a number of things... (Drinking too much milk, gassy, eating too many snacks...)  She usually complains about it at night and she usually falls asleep shortly after (and wakes up completely fine), so i've just been keeping an eye on it and trying to get back into her regular eating routine.

DS has just lately started complaining of this.  When he started saying it I immediatey thought of this post and said I was going to come back to read it.

I've taken DS to the doctor's before about him saying his "tummy hurts" and the doctor said, usually it's nothing to worry about unless they are saying it hurts and they are basically in tears while saying it.

I asked DS if the had to go boo-boo and he said no.  He hadn't eaten anything out of the ordinary that day and didn't have a fever.  But you're right, they wake up the next morning and they are fine.
