clothing irritating incision and sensitive skin?

I am 3months PP, and still wearing my maternity clothes.  i've lost a lot of weight but my belly won't seem to go down, so it's been impossible to wear regular pants, even if I try on a bigger size.  Also pants(even my maternity pants) really irritate my incision and the skin around that area is super sensitive.....anyone experience this, and/or put anything on there to help with irritation, and skin sensitivety?

thanks

Re: clothing irritating incision and sensitive skin?

  • I had sensitivity problems.  I think for me it was the strech marks that were sensitive longer, even after the incision healed.  I just wore softer waisted pants and granny panties that covered my stretch marks and incision.  I never had a problem with my maternity pants, though.

I know some people wear a binder.  You might look into that or if you have a belly band that might help to protect your incesion.  Hope this helps.

  • My baby is 6 mos old, it took awhile for the skin sensitivity to go away, just try and wear loose soft clothes. I still have incision pain if anything rubs on it, so have to wear stretchy higher rise undies and make sure my pants don't rub

  • If you have a binder, try wearing it low and putting a maxi pad over the incision. I am 7 days PP and it really helps to keep anything from rubbing on it.

  • Hey

Well what worked for me was wearing large boxer shorts around the house. I felt horrible if anything touched the incision but this really helped me.

  • I lived in yoga pants for the first few months after DD.  after incision pain decreased I had a lot of skin sensitivity pain in the skin above the incision.  Palmers cocoa butter was really helpful for this pain--maybe it will help you too!

  • thank you everyone!! yes i am addicted to cocoa butter..I definitely notice more sensitivity near my stretch marks as well.

and i definitely need to buy some more loose fitting clothing...all my maternity clothes were for winter...so i need to get some loose fitting outfits for summer!

    thanks for the advice!
