I was just thinking about this. DD1 is only 14 months, so she doesn't understand that we'll have a baby soon. I'm really not sure how long it will take after we bring DD2 home for DD1 to realize the baby stays...DD1 loves books, so I thought maybe a book about babies? Our niece was two when DD1 was born, and we bought her an Elmo book and Elmo doll "from" DD1.
Yes. DD1 is almost three years old and while I am staying in the hospital and he has to leave, each day he will open up a present. I want him to feel included at the hospital and to be able to have some attention on him too. This will also make it easier for him to leave each day.
No. My ILs just sent him 2 new DVDs. DH orders new toys for him every time he buys something on Amazon. His birthday is in August. I am putting my foot down about purchasing anything else before his birthday. I am going to focus on giving him "special time" after baby comes.
when DS visits the hospital the baby will 'give' him a few new thomas trains. thats about it. we purchased two big brother books we've already been reading a lot.
diagnosed with stage IV endo via lap surgery
IVF #1 - 27 eggs! 14 fertilized (3 natural, 11 ICSI) 5dt of A embryo, froze 6
BFP on 9/28!
Baby K born via surprise c-section after 15 hrs of labor and he is perfect!!
No. Our son is almost 4 and is super inquisitive/observant. We felt he would question it like crazy if this little tiny baby "gave" him a present. He'd know something was up. Instead, we bought him a Fisher Price digital camera and told him his job is to be the photographer at the hospital. He's very psyched about it.
Yes. An I'm a big sister book and Tinkerbell DVD. Also, our hospital gives birthday cakes for all births so we made it a point to sing happy birthday to Evan and we ate cake. She loved that part best
I bought my daughter a ring that fits inside of a ring that I will wear (she is almost 7). I think it was called Child of my Heart. I got it on etsy. It's my way of reminding her that she's still the love of my life even though there's a new baby! The ring is very small, so hopefully when she's older she can wear it on a necklace.
I just realized I read the question wrong. She is getting something from me, but not the baby.

Baby got her an American Girl Bitty Baby with diaper set. She loves taking care of her dolls.

frozen transfer a success! boy #2 via VBAC
I like the cake idea. DS loves to sing happy birthday. Maybe I will have DH bring a cake and we can sing when DS comes to the hospital. Mmm...cake.
