For someone who ehh likes to bake but did given the option would rather buy (hehe)... Is there any reason (nutrition wise) to bake my own so I can control the amount of sugar etc...? Or is store/bakery purchased fine? Silly question but was curious...
I made one. I got two six inch cake pans and used boxed cake mix. I just did white cake with vanilla frosting and decorated the bottom with pink frosting.
I liked making it, but just to make birthdays special. I figure I can handle baking a cake once a year. I also liked being able to control the flavor and make it the exact size I wanted. I did greatly decrease the sugar in the frosting, but not because I was particularly worried about her sugar consumption, just because if given the choice, I would rather her have less. I wrote about it if anyone wants to check out the recipe. The vanilla cake was to die for.
Sugar was the least of my worries when it came to her cake smash. It was her birthday! I let her enjoy and have whatever she wanted. It didn't turn out to be that much, but it was still fun!
We did ordered from a Cakery. Strawberry with chocolate icing. Yummy!
Re: Cake smash? Make your own or buy?
Yes, I have a blog and it's hilarious (except when it's not)
