Today, I had my membranes swept, got a pedicure, had induction accupuncture, got my hair cut, did yard work, lots of walking and now will try my hardest to seduce DH.
Come on baby, it's time to meet the world!!

How did you go about finding an acupuncturist? I looked through my insurance and there weren't any listed anywhere within 90 miles of where we live.
I don't know that insurance covers this type of accupuncture. I found a woman through my prenatal/postpartum pilates instructor. She works out of a chiropractor's office and does IVF and induction accupuncture. It was $50 for 1.5hours, which I thought was pretty darn cheap.
You might also look through ICAN, doulas, midwives. They often promote each other's services.
Oh, and it was awesome. Like being totally zoned and relaxed.

I wish I had thought of the accupuncture thing! If nothing else, it sounded really relaxing. Looking forward to hearing your birth story soon!
Well, 24 hours later, I can safely say that it didn't work. But, it was pretty cool anyway. As she's wiggling these needles in my back and legs, LO was jumping around. When she stopped, LO stopped. It was a cool experience, I'd go back.

It took 3 acupuncture sessions (2 of which she added electrodes to the needles) 2 days apart and a membrane sweep at my 41 week appt to help my labor start with DS. Does your acupuncturist have the electrode machine? It seriously kicked those contractions into high gear! And that combined with the membrane sweep sent me into consistent contractions 3 mins apart within 12 hours
GL!!!! KUP!

My OB offered a membrane sweep but I was a wimp so turned it down. Later read they work only a minority of the time (so don't lose hope!)
What did work was at my next appt the nurse checked my cervix and kind of "stretched" it a little. Had the kid 5 hours later!
I asked my new OB/GYN about this since I hope to be doing this again in about 9 months. He says in the biz they call this "stirring things up." Says it often works. He also said he's willing to break water for a VBAC candidate if all else fails. (Since of course pitocin & prostaglandins are not an option in VBAC). Thought that was interesting.
So ... hoping you go into labor before then, but if not ask your OB to "stir things up"! Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

I had acupuncture done for a few days in a row when I went overdue with DS2 - supposedly it is more effective that way.
Good luck! Hope that baby comes soon!!
