FTM- Maybe I'm nuts, but...
I'm seriously starting to think that I am crazy. I am 39 weeks and 2 days and I honestly don't think I've had any contractions at all. The only time that I had any BH was when I was at work (I am a nurse, on my feet for 12hr shifts) and even those weren't anything to talk about. I have had 2 cervical checks, one at 37 weeks 4 days and one at 38 weeks 4 days and the midwife said that my cervix was so high still that she couldn't even reach it to tell if I was dilated at all. She had a second nurse come in and she said that she felt it at barely 1 cm. I am beginning to wonder if this baby is going to end up being super late and I will have to be induced (not ideal) or if I'm just crazy and everything is progressing normally. DH's Mom said that he was 4 weeks late...not sure how accurate that is or if her EDD was way wrong, and I know that I was 2 weeks late and my Mom was induced. Not sure if that holds any meaning in this pregnancy. Just getting frustrated I guess!

Well, it's not entirely uncommon for FTMs to not experience contractions before labor really begins; I know I didn't with #1 or #2, and only had a few BHs during pregnancy with #2. I was 8 days late with DS (after a membrane sweep), and DD was born on her EDD.
There is some evidence that FTMs tend to go late, and that can be common and healthy for many women and LOs. Also bear in mind that an EDD based on you LMP assumes a 28 day cycle, so if you tend to have longer cycles, you're also more likely to have longer gestations.
Don't worry! Your body and your LO are doing what they need to get ready for the big day, whenever that may be!
