My daughter is almost 10 months old and she was doing great with sleep (putting herself to sleep) up until she got a stomach virus and upper respiratory back in April. Ever since then she's been getting up a few times a night, except for maybe a week where she did great. Now she won't put herself to sleep. We originally did a method we kind of made our own but I guess you could say it was similar to Ferber. That's not working now b/c she can sit herself up, so as soon as she realizes we aren't in the room she sits herself up. I try to let her cry for a while but she is sitting up and it's almost like she doesn't know how to lay herself back down (of course she knows how to get to crawling and lay her head down, but I mean she won't do that to go to sleep).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Yes, we have a noise machine, blackout shades, she uses a pacifier and has a lovie in the bed with her. I don't mean this weird but I'd really like to hear from mom's who have gone through this or know personally of someone who has gone through this. If your child has slept through the night since day one and gotten back on a sleep routine very easily after interruptions (i.e. colds, teething, etc.) then I am over-the-moon thrilled for you but respectfully decline any "my baby is a great sleeper, but you may want to try..." recommendations. I really don't mean that rude, but right now I'm exhausted and want to go to sleep so bad so I'm not in the best of moods. I think all us moms can relate.
