Castor oil to induce VBAC?

Does anyone know of any credible evidence that suggests taking castor oil to induce labor is safe or unsafe for a VBAC?

    I don't have any credible sources, but I will be taking some on Thursday, if I'm still pregnant.  My midwife is the one suggesting I take it.

    I just recall that someone else's midwfie/OB didn't think it was a good idea.  Where mine is for castor oil, but against EPO.  I think there's a lot of opinions on these 'alternative' labor prompters.

    I asked my OB about starting EPO orally at 37 weeks and she said not unless you want diarrhea. What!? I don't think she was listening well.

    My midwives have already told me to start EPO at 36 weeks, but they do not recommend castor oil for VBAC.  I have also heard from doulas that I interviewed that castor oil is not a good idea for VBAC.

    15 hours after my water broke , while laboring at home, at 37weeks 5 days the MW had me take castor oil. I had been in light labor all day and everything else we did to intensify labor didn't work. We had tried several sessions of nipple stim, walking, and acupuncture/moxibustion. The castor oil was the last resort for the MW but 90 minutes later I was in hard labor.
