This morning I took both boys to the library. I had DS#2 in the Moby wrap (which I have used for both boys). This older woman comes up to me and says, "I don't mean to be nosy, but..." (and already I'm mentally rolling my eyes) She proceeds to tell me (extremely condescendingly) about a "friend of a friend" who used a wrap and her baby suffocated. And yes, that's awful and sad, but what exactly did she hope to accomplish by telling me this horror story? I very politely told her that I always make sure my baby's face is not covered by the material and that I love the Moby wrap. But sheesh, it just seemed like an inappropriate thing for her to say to a complete stranger.
Re: Rude woman at the library today
Ugh, I can't stand it when people start sentences with "I don't mean to (be nosy, rude, offend, etc) but..." clearly if you have to explain that before what you are about to say, just keep your mouth shut. Especially to a complete stranger.
My MIL pulled that when she asked me about BF. "Well I don't mean to dissuade you, but it doesn't work for everybody, just so you know." Um yeah, thanks...why don't I try first and go from there since your experience may not be my own.

I guess it had a lot to do with the WAY she said it. Her tone seemed to imply that clearly I must be a horrible, uneducated mother for putting my baby in the Moby!
There is a "right" way and a "wrong" way to wrap a baby.
Obviously you are not the village idiot and can wrap your baby so they dont' suffocate.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.
