Random math question

It's the end of the day and my brain is fried.  How is it possible for someone born in April to be 17 at highschool graduation.  Doesn't that mean they would have had to start kindergarten at 4 or skipped past a grade?

I would think so. I was born in May and I was 18.

  • Or perhaps they skipped a grade?
  • Yup. I know in Canada there are places with crazy cut-offs like March but I don't think April.

I graduated at 17, my birthday is in January and I live in Canada.  My mom tells me that my preschool advised that I was ready for kindergarten early and so she put me in.  I was always the youngest person in my grade

  • When was the graduation?

  • My SS will be 17 when he graduates with a Nov. birthday. He skipped 2nd grade. Looking back he was ready for K at an older 4 but didn't go till an older 5.
  • I was still 16 when I was a senior, and during school turned 17.  I started college at 17 also.  When I went to kindergarten, you were still allowed to be 4 as long as you turned 5 before the Jan. 1 started. So - I was still 4.
