My FIL is so generously going to buy us any car seat of our choice and cost does not matter. He said just make sure it is extremely safe and comfortable for baby. What would you recommend? I have already checked out the graco snugride and wasn't that impressed but then again I am a FTM and maybe I am not critiquing it on the right stuff. The only baby store we have here is BRU and they have a limited selection so I am pretty sure we are going to end up picking out one online. I did like the Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - O2
I just need some serious direction. If it matters we are also getting the City Mini GT. Thanks!
Re: I need recommendations for an infant car seat
We used a Graco 22 with DS and loved it. This time we went with the Snugride 35 for the extended use...DS was too tall for the 22 around 9 months. That being said, it really wasn't a big deal to transition to the convertible rear-facing. I mean the point of an infant seat is to carry baby around. Who wants to carry a 17lb baby around in a seat that weighs an extra 8 pounds.
The Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Britax also get good ratings in crash tests and get good reviews. I suggest going to BRU again and trying out all three. Get the one you think is easiest to carry, get in and out of the base, etc.
I bought this one...

And I LOVE it!
Here are the recommendations from the most recent baby bargains..
Better: Chicco key fit 30
Best: graco snug ride
Dark horse: Britax chaperone
