Vincent is here! (long)

Vincent Luis was born on Wednesday June 6th at 5:25pm.  He weighed 6lbs5oz and is 19 inches long.  Here is the short version of my birth experience:

I started having natural contractions late Monday night but nothing consistent but they didn't go away. Since I was already past my due date I decided to keep my induction date for Wednesday.  I was checked in on Tuesday night where they gave me cervidil(however you spell it).  That alone kicked me into full labor at 9pm Tuesday night.  They wanted to wait 12 hour before giving me any pitocin, by the time they were ready to give it to me though I was already 4cm dilated.  I was in a lot of pain due to a lot of back labor so I decided to get an epidural.  They started me on a low dose of Pitocin at about 10am.  By 3pm I was fully dilated and effaced and ready to push.  Unfortunately it looked like I was one of those rare cases where the epidural didn't fully work on me!  I couldn't feel the contractions in my stomach or back but I could definitely feel them in my vagina and butt area.  The anesthesiologist told me that it's rare for that to happen but it does happen....lucky me! Stick out tongue  I felt all the pain of pushing and literally felt my little peanut rip me open.  I have a small vaginal opening so I ended up with a 2nd degree tear which the doctor was shocked about considering how small my baby was.  It was the most painful thing I've ever had to endure but 100% worth it once they plopped little Vinnie onto my stomach.  I was in labor for a total of 20 1/2 hours, including the pushing.

DH and I are loving every min. with our new son.  Breastfeeding has been a big challenge for me as I have flat nipples so it's hard to get a latch.  I'm not giving up though and am using a pump to try and stimulate the nipples.  I slowly getting my milk in so anything that is pumped I give to Vincent through a bottle so it doesn't go to waste.  Below is a couple pictures of our new bundle of joy!
