I recently bought at bathing suit for $110 at Nordstrom. I wore it over the weekend. I now see the exact same suit on sale on site like Gilt for $39. I'm so upset. I want to buy the suit online and then return it to Nordstrom with the receipt for the original suit. I'm having trouble deciding if it's unethical, though.
I called Nordstrom and they do price match but only for brick and mortar stores, not online retailers. WWYD?

You could try this, but I would totally just buy it online then return it to the store. Sure, it may be unethical, but that's a huge difference and these are hard times!
I'm going to jump in here and ask another unethical question.
Similar thing happened to me. I bought a dress at Nordstrom for $178. Had I bought the same dress at Lord & Taylor it would have been $144. However Lord and Taylor does not have my size.
If I buy the wrong size at Lord & Taylor, can I then return that wrong sized one to Norsdtrom or will the receipt for Nordstrom show the size?

The suit was worth $110 when you bought it, and again when you wore it. It's unethical to do what you're proposing. You're upset that you missed out on a good deal, but that doesn't change the value you assigned to the suit when you bought and wore it.

I agree. Not to mention the fact that it's a bathing suit, which is essentially an undergarment. Gross IMHO.

But yes, unethical. I agree to the taking them proof of the online price &seeing if they'll honor it. You never know.
Seriously guys. Nordstrom is super easy. They thrive on customer loyalty. You can take the (original) suit and the tag back to the store, bring a print out from whatever online store with the competitive price. If they won't price adjust it for you then tell them you would like to return it. Get all "customers always right!" on them.
I use to work there, I did many adjustments because I worked at Nordstrom. If its the same brand, same season, it should be the same price.

ETA: and jungle is right. You would stir more sh!t bringing the wrong size in with a different tag than just bringing in the original to get an adjustment ( they go off of the UII which is the second sticker bar code they placed on the tag, its like having the receipt. It holds the original price, color, size, date, payment method, department, employee number). Personally as an employee who had to deal with stock and merchandising, if you brought in a completely different size item, I would be pissed.
