The full moon did it for me apparently. The short version of my birth story is: I woke up between 1-1:30 AM on June 5th to go to the bathroom and notice some cramping. I went back to bed to try to get some sleep. It didn't hurt, but I couldn't stop thinking about how this might be it. I got up around 2 and played around on the computer. I timed them around 2:40 and they were 8-9 min apart.
I got in the shower, got out had some bathroom issues. I spent the next 30 min on and off the toilet. At 3:30 I finally woke DH up and filled him in. I was having contractions, but they weren't bad. I could talk through them. I was finally beginning to let myself believe that I was in labor. I started timing the contractions again. It took 30 min for my contractions to go from 4 min apart to 2 min apart. We called the dr to say we were on the way to the hospital. I went to the bathroom while DH was on the phone with the dr, and my body started involuntarily pushing. I couldn't stop it. Dr told DH to hang up and call 911. The EMTs and ambulance were there pretty quickly. I didn't want to get in the ambulance, but everyone told me I had no choice. Walking down the stairs with what felt like the head between my legs was not fun. They got me in the ambulance and took off (not before DH saw the head crowning- he had to get DD out of bed and was going to meet us at the hospital). Baby Philip was born in the ambulance less than a mile from our apt at 5:07 AM, less than 4 hours from the time I got up to go to the bathroom.
While the EMTs were walking me through the hospital, the male said that he preferred gun shot wounds to delivering babies.
Everyone is healthy and doing well. Recovery this time is way easier than with my 18 hour, 2 hours of pushing, forecep delivery with DD.
