Help

Hi my 7 week old LO only wants to be held during the day. He hates the swing, bouncy chair. Trying to get him used to a carrier. At night lately after 4am he won't go back to sleep anywhere but on me so we sleep in the glider. I go back to work in a month. I know no one will hold him all day long & not sure what to do. I know most people will say I need to just put him down but he doesn't just cry he becomes hysterical to the point where it takes a while to calm him down. Really dont know what to do not sure how I'm going to return to work   Advice please!!!

Re: Help

  • Are you still swaddling him to lie him down?  My LO is colicky and prefers to be held but I can get him down if I swaddle him. Sometimes it takes 3 or more times of picking him back up, patting him on the butt and then back to the crib.  It can be an exhausting process but he sleeps exclusively in his crib.  Hates the swing too!

  • I agree with swaddling. Also I know a month seems like a small amount of time but your baby will change a lot. For now he needs to feel secure so I wouldn't let him cry hysterically. My baby liked to doze in the boppy lounger. Once I soothed him in the swaddle it was a smooth transition into the lounger because it was soft and he was in a somewhat cradled position. You just have to keep an eye on him while he sleeps on that. GL!

I agree- try swaddling.  We use SwaddleMes, which I really like.  She fusses when I'm putting her in the swaddle, but when I pick her up in a swaddle you can shee her relax.  Also, DD sleeps fantastically well in the RNP.  I HIGHLY recommend it.  It kind of snuggles her, and I think it helps her a bunch.  She prefers there to the swing and the bouncer.  Both of those are more for play than sleep.
