Rasberry Leaf Tea

I am one day past my due date and will be meeting my ob-gyn on Monday to discuss other options. Anyone have any luck with foods that induced labor? I read that Rasberry Leaf tea is great. Anyone have any experience with it?

Good Luck to all the ladies who are getting ready to welcome their LO.

Re: Rasberry Leaf Tea

  • I have been drinking it for 2 days... still pregnant...

  • I've been drinking it since 36 weeks (not to induce labor) it strengthens your uterus as well, and I'm still pregnant. My sister said she drank it once at 39 weeks and went in to labor a couple hours later though. Try castor oil or eggplant parmesan or eating the core of a pineapple (my doula's advice). Good luck!

  • Raspberry Leaf tea won't induce labor. It's purpose is to help strengthen and tone your uterus, so it can be more effective during labor. Some women drink it throughout the 3rd trimester and some drink it throughout their whole pregnancy.

  • I was due yesterday so went to Whole Foods today and bought some raspberry leaf tea.  Only drank on cup so far and all it seemed to accomplish was to make the baby go CRAZY---seriously, the LO won't stop squirming and punching!!! :)

  • I've been taking EPO and drinking the tea for a week and nothing.  Will update after my appointment on Friday to see if I have progressed at all...

Agreed. You can always mix the castor oil with something else as to not have to take it by itself.

  • As PP's have mentioned, it doesn't induce labor unfortunately.

This.  I've been drinking it all along.  It makes your uterus contract, but not the kind of contractions that will get us anywhere.  More like reflexes that strengthen - nothing you can feel.

  • I started drinking 2 cups per day around 37 weeks and ended up having DS right at 39 weeks.
