Trying to Get Pregnant

WWYD re: dentist

I have the worst toothache! It's really awful. I will likely O in the next 2 days if past months and my increasingly dark OPKs are correct. I'm guessing I can't get an appointment until early next week.

Would you let the dentist know you might be pregnant even though it's so early and you couldn't even test yet? I think I will need a root canal and I'm a major wimp. TERRIFIED of the dentist.

I have this nagging feeling that not going to the dentist contributed to my CP. I know it's unlikely but it's on my mind, crazy I know.

chemical pregnancies occur when there is something chromosomally wrong with the embryo.  There is no way your teeth had anything to do with that.

I know this...it was just so recent that I'm not past the "what caused this?" phase...even though I know what happened. I know that might not make sense but it's just how I'm dealing with it. (I'm not trying to sound snarky at all, just explaining).

I'm definitely going, don't get me wrong. I'm just wondering if I should even mention it to the dentist and whether they'll have to use different drugs. Oh well, I'll tell the dentist and he/she can take it from there.

Sorry for the dumb question. I think it's my anxiety about having to go at all!

  • What the crap? Go to the dentist girl! Seriously, no snark intended...you need to take care of yourself.

  • You're not pregnant now, and it doesn't sound like you'll be pregnant next week. But you should probably find an emergency dentist before your tooth causes so much pain that you don't even want to bother trying to get pregnant because of the mind numbing, pulsating pain radiating from your jaw. I've been there. It sucks.

I know!! I would rather have my fingernails pulled out, though.

To be fair to myself it hasn't been THAT long since I went, and this pain is recent - just started to get bad today (although it is really bad!).

  • Better to get it taken care of asap... If you delay the appointment the dental issue may compound; then, if you succeed in getting pregnant and have to be treated while pregnant, you may find yourself having to decline medications pre and post-op because of concern for the fetus.  Better to have it all taken care of beforehand! Hope it's nothing serious!
  • You might not need a root canal. You need to go. And it's not so only the meds they use that they are concerned about it's more the xrays. But seriously. I know it's not a walk in the park but it's better than having a toothache.

  • Go to the dentist if you think you need to be sign. If you're concerned, you could always refuse Xrays but I'm not sure if that will be an option if they need to do a root canal.
