So things have finally calmed down a little. I will say that going from 1 to 2 children was way harder for me than 0 to 1, but we're figuring it out.
Kirsten Jo was born via RCS on 5-7 at 7:17am and weighed in at 7 lbs. (I think her lucky number will be 7!) I guess there's not a lot to say about her birth, as it was scheduled. We showed up at the hospital at 5am and did the routine paperwork/pre-surgical iv's etc. Then I was rolled in to the OR around 7am. I was terrified of the spinal, but it ended up being NBD. The worst part was being catheterized, as the spinal had not taken that far up my legs/abdomen yet. Only a few short minutes later Kirsten was born. She looked just like big sister! It was awesome in the OR because they have a camera over the incubator and a monitor, so I could see everything they were doing. After being stitched up, we were wheeled into recovery where I was able to BF for the first time. I also got to see her get her first bath. It was amazing how different this experience was from my first c/s.
Recovery was awesome, and I was up and moving by the first night. I'd say I was 90% by the time we went home.
Kirsten did lose quite a bit of weight and did need supplemented. I'm glad to say that there was no nipple confusion, and she's caught up quite nicely. At her 1 month appointment she was 9 lbs!
Congrats to all the other May mommies!
