I heard that there are magnetic cabinet locks that you install inside your cabinet for childproofing. Have you tried them? Do they work? Are they strong enough to keep LO out? Any info. about them is helpful.
We have them. I like them a lot. Unfortunately, they won't work on our drawers, but we have them on our cabinets. I actually just ordered and received a second set because DS is trying to get into cabinets more and is close to smashing his fingers with the doors.
I have these. Super easy and fast to install. Sturdy enough that I can't yank them open without the key thing. So far DS hasn't gotten into anything.
Downside is they are quite a bit more expensive than regular cabinet locks but I love that you can't see them, that you can turn them on and off and that you don't have to drill into your cabinets.
Ok, so you are saying they are strong enough that LO can't open as he gets bigger? Like you, I love the idea that you can't see them and there is no drilling but my DS thinks after awhile DS might be able to put them open. I have to look more into the key thing. I am not familiar with it.
It is not a magnet holding the door closed. It is a latch that holds the door closed and a magnet is used to open and close the latch. So instead of you unlatching the door with your fingers you use the magnet

I'm thinking he won't. I tried tugging pretty hard and couldn't get them open without the magnet. But who knows. I didn't try to rip the door off it's hinges, which I could see DS doing at some point....:)
My parents used them as the lock on their "liquor cabinet" when we were growing up and they were very sturdy. Obviously we never tried to rip the door off the hinges trying to get in or anything. But it did become a "game" so to say for everyone who came over to try to break in. No one was ever successful without the magnet that came with it. We will be putting it on our liquor cupboard also so we don't have to replace the lock as she gets older, my fear moreso for all the glass.
