hi... i've been lurking for a little bit and thought i should introduce myself. after losing our daughter shortly after birth, my husband and i have been having trouble conceiving and have semi-recently been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. even before we got married, we'd talked about adoption as something we wanted to do to add to our family, and we know that now is the time. the only problem is we are feeling so overwhelmed!! i've read about the things we should do to start, but starting itself just seems so crazy... how do we pick an agency or a lawyer or a consultant? we do not know anyone who has adopted before, so we can't ask for any advice from friends or family.
i'm hoping to get advice here, give support, and am really looking forward to giving a baby a good and loving home!!
Re: intro
Sorry to hear about your loss and struggles! There are a lot of ladies here who will definitely be a great support for you in that way.
Have you read the FAQs at the top of the board? That can help you get started. As for picking an agency/lawyer/consultant... it's a hard decision. We knew what agency we wanted to work with before we even got started (we know people who adopted through them), so we didn't have to go through that. My recommendation is to do some Googling, find out what the options are for your area, and request some info from the contacts that look promising. Hopefully that will help you to narrow it down to your top 3 or 4. Then you can meet with them to narrow it down further.

Heading to China in November 2014 to bring our son home!
Welcome to the board! I'm of no help figuring out the adoption agency/lawyer thing since we are going down the fostering route. Sorry! But good luck making your decision!
